Our Clients

Our business coaching and advising services are tailored for SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) businesses. This means we support the growth of brother and sister-owned businesses planning on starting next month, to 50-year-old businesses with 2700 employees.

We provide support for stage two start-ups transitioning to ’employer’ status (stage three startups), and old-economy businesses.

New-economy businesses (tech start-ups) rely on incubators, venture capitalists, and rounds of investor funding to sustain and fuel growth, but as they scale rapidly into becoming employers, we are there to facilitate that transition. Our clients avoid the high-profile HR meltdowns of poorly organized and managed tech firms, often caught in the media.

Old-economy businesses rely primarily on sales of goods or services to consumers (B2C), or other businesses (B2B). Old-economy SME businesses include manufacturers, building and service trades, retail, food and beverage, hospitality, business and professional services, and health and wellness businesses, among others.

For these businesses we provide support in identifying opportunities and risks in the complex intersect of marketing, human resources, management, finances (primarily cash flow), and productivity.

The Business Coaching & Advisory Process

Business coaching or advising is not a project, but a process. It is a cycle that starts with understanding where your business is at, where you want to get to, and identifying the tools, decisions, and behaviours that will get you there.

We identify businesses at three different ‘life stages’: Traction Cycle, Growth Cycle, and Enterprise Cycle. Once we have identified the life stage of your business, we do two things:

  • Ensure that your business is strong, viable, and sustainable as defined by the stage you are at. For example this might mean if you are in the Growth Cycle, ensuring you have the policies and practices in place to be  great employer, as being relatively new employers, is one of the hallmarks of a Growth Cycle business.
  • Identify the steps it would take to get you to the next stage.

This process is iterative. That is, we review the progress we are making monthly and quarterly, and make constant adjustments. Your goals may change, the competitive environment will change, your internal capacities like employees, systems, and financial situation, will change. Each of these changes needs to be understood in terms of their impacts on the process, and then directions, schedules, and resources, re-aligned for the best possible advantage.

We provide monthly or biweekly conversations, review, and guidance to ensure every decision you make has the best chance of leading you to predictable success. We guide you through the planning, the resourcing, and coach you in the execution of a successful process. We use tools like cash flow management, lean processes, positive feedback management, 360 marketing strategies, growth plans, and budgets, to help you build a robust, profitable, and growing enterprise.  When things go wrong, and they very often will, we are there to minimize the damage, and in some cases help you turn a pending disaster into a transforming opportunity.

Management Training:

For mid- to large-size organizations we provide training and coaching for managers and key employees. We help your team use the best time management and people management tools available. The focus is on productivity, retention, and happiness.

Team Development:

Communication, teamwork, delegation, creativity, productivity, and training. We are specialists in the world of adult and industrial training and education, and can help your management team create effective, happy, safe, and productive teams.

Marketing and Business Development:

We don’t build websites, but we show you how to get the most out of the one you have, or what you need to ask your designers. Our job is to help you understand your market, your competitive environment, your opportunities, challenges, and capacity. As business advisors our job is to ensure every dollar you spend on marketing does the job it is supposed to do because your marketing and business development strategies are in alignment with the rest of your organization.
