At the Great Performances Group the core of our services is based on business coaching and advising services.
Our business coaching and advising services are tailored for SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) businesses. This means we support the growth of brother and sister-owned businesses planning on starting next month, to 50-year-old businesses with 2700 employees.
While we do provide support for tech start-ups transitioning to ’employer’ status, our history and expertise lies in supporting old-economy businesses. Where new-economy businesses (AKA tech start-ups) rely on incubators, venture capitalists, and rounds of investor funding to sustain and fuel growth, old-economy businesses rely primarily on sales of goods or services to consumers (B2C), or other businesses (B2B).
Old-economy SME businesses include manufacturers, building and service trades, retail, food and beverage, hospitality, business and professional services, and health and wellness businesses, among others.
The Business Coaching Process
Business coaching or advising is not a project, but a process. It is a cycle that starts with understanding where your business is at, where you want to get to, and identifying the tools, decisions, and behaviours that will get you there.
- Ensure that your business is strong, viable, and sustainable as defined by the stage you are at. For example this might mean if you are in the Growth Cycle, ensuring you have the policies and practices in place to be great employer, as being relatively new employers, is one of the hallmarks of a Growth Cycle business.

This process is iterative. That is, we review the progress we are making monthly and quarterly, and make constant adjustments. Your goals may change, the competitive environment will change, your internal capacities like employees, systems, and financial situation, will change. Each of these changes needs to be understood in terms of their impacts on the process, and then directions, schedules, and resources, re-aligned for the best possible advantage.
